What does that really mean? Not the same as 'No Sugar Period' I imagine.
To me it generally means "avoid this food"; if I feel
compelled to buy it than I read the label for the carb count
first - and then leave it on the shelf.
While I agree that it might mean "avoid this food", I do always check
the label for the full story. One notable example (for me) is _Danone
Silhouette_ "No sugar added" Yoghurt, with either cherries,
strawberries, or peach. It's sweetened with Splenda, which doesn't
seem to bother me in the amounts I have, and runs to about 8 gm carbs
per 1/2 cup.
If it wasn't for those particular flavours of that particular brand,
there would be no yoghurts I could stand the taste of.
Keep eating them, they're good for you.
Possibly you might try an experiment next time you're in the
market. As well as the Danone, pick up a tub of plain Greek
or European Yoghurt. At home add your favourite berries,
chopped if necessary, and some splenda. Give it the taste
test.
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.
