Controversy over a Pfizer antismoking drug is fueling debate about
whether patients should be told of corporate ties
There is no reason that any doctor in patient care
to have anytning but very professional ties to the drug
industrry.
Human life is at stake and in many of our other
situations this is dealt with in mean manner.
For several generations the docs self enforced a
profession code. It is a shame that did not remain
universal.
Years ago, I was told our research Director refused
to hire a doctor that we were told was the way to
get a certain research grant.
Today I see the gross advertising by a few docs and
the touting of drugs that should never be presented
to the patient.
Like all things some will take it that way until it becomes a
disaster. Then all wring their hands and say WHY.
We are getting lessons now about ecomonics. And
the theives and idiots are point the finger in every
direction.
When I was young the medical "profession" said it was above
this level.
