What I'm trying to say is that while antioxidant supplements taken
separately or in combination don't work, it still pays to eat
nutritious food that includes a wide range of antioxidants.
There are other things in foods that make them wholesome. Hopefully
we will move on from looking at foods as being good sources of Vit C
or Vit E.
Hi Quentin,
I remember a lot of posts, mainly from you, on the misconceptions of
supplements. The number of iso-forms in vit E, the lab measuring the wrong
form of vit-B, the wrong chiral form, the notion that salmon is more than
just omega-3 oil and indeed the effect of carotene: helps against cancer
except when you smoke than it enhances your chance on cancer.I think your
posts were the single largest factor that got me off supplements :)
G'day G'day Gys,
Well paradoxically I have to confess I'm currently taking some
supplements. The reason is simple. I'm battling peripheral
neuropathy brought on from the impact of steroid chemo on my A1c and
also thalidomide for cancer. So I'm experimenting with alpha lipoic
acid plus some Insulbalance, a mix of vitamins including Vit C. It's
formulated by a compounding pharmacy so one can at least be certain of
the vitamins being of pharmaceutical standards. So for a period of
time I'm actually going against my own advice. Put it down to
desperation if you like. (I am.) Hopefully it will work as well as
the so called cocktail treatment for peripheral neuropathy. So far
taking alpha lipoic acid three times per day I seem to be experiencing
some improvement, something I didn't do when taking it once a day.
Hope you will post the ISBN of your book somewhere whence provided with one.
Sure. Google in a week or two.
Thx for the discussion
Hope your well
I'm struggling but there are signs of an improvement.
It may seem silly to others but significant to me that I've been
typing up copious notes for my students explaining general things they
need to understand. I used to do such things when I was a class room
tutor.
I hadn't done since being a support tutor but now I've become excited
with it again. The students really appreciate it.
Gys
Best wishes,
