Hi
Thank you all so very much for your warm welcome back! It is so appreciated.

Quentin is absolutely right. Without Jennifer's advice and without Quentin's
sage and knowledgeable words and without all of your experiences and advice,
I am sure that my blood sugar would still not be controlled. It is about
eight years ago that I was diagnosed. The doctor sent me to a Diabetes
Course at the hospital. Included was a one on one meeting with a diabetes
dietician. She gave me a diet of 1200 calories and told me what to eat.
Carbs were a large part of that diet. My blood sugar went up as did my
weight. I was so lucky to find this group. With your help, my blood sugar is
now normal most days and in the first year, I lost 60 pounds. ( I have since
regained 15 but that is another story). My calorie intake increased from
1200 to 1800 and I still lost weight. If I were to list the most important
events of my life, finding this group would have to be right up there at the
top. You are an incredible group.
Thanks again to all of you!!
Another success story? How boring! <G>
Along with Jennifer, Jenny is no longer here but she has a blog as
well as her websites

ps. I have just found out that Quentin has written a book. I have excitedly
ordered it and cannot wait for its arrival! It is so wonderful that his vast
knowledge can now be more accessible. I have asked my library to order it so
more people can benefit. Thanks, Quentin.
Now that's a damn good idea!
Memo to selves : order three copies, one for me one for a relative and
one for the doctor to pass around her colleagues, not sure of the
procedure or protocol to get one into the libraries here though.
You'll be pleased to know we have taken the first step. Each edition
has its own ISBN number making it library compatible.
Ah that may help! Not sure of the bureaurocracy and protocols here, I
might ask next time I take mother or her books. It's largely
automatic, checking books in and out and renewing them is done with
bar codes and a computer, you only have to talk to staff when you owe
money. They are currently selling off a lot of used books cheap.
I spent the morning out walking with the printer. We talked about
what the experience had meant to him. It's rather like being part of a
family. On Tuesday night I'm going to a nutritionist's public
lecture. He has bought ten copies which I reckon is a marvelous
endorsement. He could have taken a "not invented here" attitude but
didn't. That was reassuring.
This is why I always preferred dealing with small businesses.
Maybe you could get an honorary degree in nutrition?
G'day G'day Trink,
An honorary degree?
It isn't something I've been looking for. The reward for me has come
in the feedback I've received telling me about the changes blokes are
making in their diets. The book works.
That's what is important to me.
Last night I went to a dress rehearsal for a local production of Sound
of Music. My daughter in law's sister was playing the lead role of
Maria for the dress rehearsal. She is the understudy. It was a
fabulous night which I enjoyed far, far more than I expected. It got
me thinking about what motivates people to put in so much effort to
bring off a performance. Hey, the audience clapped some of the scenery
changes. So much effort had gone into painting and constructing them.
If anyone deserves honorary degrees they sure do, well at least a
paper towards a degree.
I overheard a few of the pretentious comments amongst reporters for
local rags outside. Did they attend the same show I wondered?
It is so easy to belittle the efforts of others.
Guess it makes them feel important.
Best wishes,
