Hi,
For breakfast, I had some sausage and eggs and a few peanut M&M's.
Then for lunch I had some string cheese and a low fat yogurt and 1/2 a
chocolate chip cookie. I have a huge sweet tooth and am hoping that a
few M&M's and 1/2 a cookie are ok. (????)
Probably not, especially at breakfast and lunch. Those are
both critical meals for me. I can't even have milk in my
coffee without spiking at breakfast and my lunch limit is
the equivalent of one slice of bread.
If you must have sweets, search for some that use sweeteners
and are made without flour. Ditch the m&m's and cookies.
Don't buy them again.
And don't buy low-fat yoghurt. It usually has LOTS of sugar.
Buy plain, preferably the Greek or European style and add
your own berries or fruit and some sweetener if necessary.
If you really want to save money, make your own:

I am super thristy today
and have had about five glasses of water.
That is an indicator that your BG's are probably high.
I am kind of hungry, but
super tired
Another indicator.
and just not in the mood to eat right now and the water is
kind of filling. I am going to be moving in 11 days and have been up
until at least midnight every night packing and just tired. I didn't
eat dinner last night. My kids want spaghetti tonight and I was going
to make that for them, but then I don't think that is good for me. Ug.
What sauce do they like? Try this simple cheap bolognaise:
One onion, chopped.
A clove of garlic, minced.
A can of tomatoes.
Some herbs, preferably basil but whatever you like.
Some mince-meat (ground beef to you).
Lightly fry the onions and garlic in olive oil (or similar)
unt9il soft but not brown. Turn up the heat, add meat and
stir while it browns, breaking up any chunks.
When the meat is browned, add the tomatoes and any liquid in
the can, chopping any large chunks, and bring to a simmer.
Simmer for about 40 minutes on low heat, just bubbling. Stir
occasionally, and add a little water if it starts to stick.
Cook the pasta in boiling water until ready and serve the
pasta and sauce in separate bowls on the table. Serve the
kids as they like, but serve yourself half the smallest
pasta serve you give one of your kids and double the sauce.
Tomorrow, have the same breakfast without the ma&m's. If
you're still hungry have an extra egg or sausage. What did
you drink?
For lunch, try a home-made soup (bought soups can be very
high-carb) or an open sandwich on one slice of bread.
For dinners, try meats or fish, whatever you like or can
afford in those, with steamed veges - but no starches. No
breads, potatoes, corn or similar.
Do you drink juices or milk? If so - stop.
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.
