Water Pump Replacement (not OT)

Over the past couple of years in particular, I've had my
diet/exercise/medication thing worked out reasonably well, integrating my
recent addition of insulin quite nicely with my bicycle riding, without
getting any but the odd hypo - this is only when I forget to eat or
something silly. My HbA1c fell to below 6 and stayed there.
Over the years I've also posted here on numerous occasions, being one of
many diabetics who get plagued by occasionally high bg after exercise, and
unexpected liver dumps. I've had many responses, which I have taken into
account and understood.
Over the past few days I have been on-and-off replacing the water pump on my
son's car. That leads me to this current problem - although I've decreased
my medication, and although I haven't done as much cycling as I do on most
weeks, the few days I've spent working on the car have been punctuated by
several hypos. I would class the job I did on the car more like being fiddly
than strenuous. Definitely not as strenuous as riding my bicycle 24
kilometres a day, even if I include walking back and forth to and from the
garage. Yet, this work seemed to dramatically increase the effect of the
reduced amount of insulin I took.
In fact, over the years I have found that doing any work in the garage, most
of it not physically stressful, could have that effect. I am puzzled - why
relatively not-physically stressful work could have a bigger effect in
lowering my bg that more physically stressful work.
