If it had not been for the medical assistance you despise so much, I would be dead, & my brother would have died 30 years before he did. The disease? Diabetes. The treatment? Insulin for him & a few tablets every day for me. Both work very well, thank you very much. My mother would also possibly be dead or, at the very least crippled, but after medical intervention, she is enjoying a very active old age. (She still dances for an hour or so at least twice a week at the age of 75)
What are you talking about. A medical mishap is certain death or a debilitating life. Most healing is done on it's own IN SPITE OF medical care. Your medical god is not the all knowing god it claims to be and not the be all end all for me. Push your superstitious medical god beliefs on somebody else.I wouldn't let them <Inserted by me here -doctors> touch my kid because I don't want them to have a medical mishap.
Even if it meant certain death? You have to just be careful what doctors you choose. I moved to this area a few years ago and was fortunate enough to have some local connections, and was guided to the best people. I am eternally grateful for that, since it turned out I really needed them. There are lists online (not sure where to direct you) where you can check out a doctors reputation. People write in to it, and complain about or praise the care they received from this or that doctor.
If you have a kid, I suggest you don't let them die of untreated diabetic complications.
I take it you would rather die in agony than undergo these highly effective treatments of potentially fatal diseases? You would rather see your child die in agony than receive a simple, effective treatment for a disease that would otherwise kill him or her?
I have read your post concerning your relative, but such mistakes are extremely rare, although they are a tragedy for those involved.
A hundred thousand dying each year *purely* due to medical errors (A figure I would personally find very hard to believe, unless it is worldwide, although I am open to correction) sounds a lot until you note that the number of treatments each year in the USA`alone runs into the hundreds of *millions*. (One treatment in a few thousand goes wrong. Compare the odds of getting up & dying that day. That happens on average in the developed world once in 28000 times or so, even if there's nothing badly wrong with the person.) It could also with profit be compared to a natural death rate in the USA of about 7 million a year.
And finally, yes, the body is very good at repairing itself, but now & again, it needs help from outside. The trick is to know when that help is needed. That's what most doctors do very well.
