i'm sure you can find someone who will take it

do you have freecycle in your town?

True . . . but then I'm just passing on the problem to someone else,
it'll still need new toner and fuser which will still cost
significantly more than a replacement

<sigh>

at the local tip there's a sort of recycling point, a truck container
full of stuff you can buy for a small fee, the guys who run the place
sort out the good stuff from the rubbish, and there's a shop in town
which takes most anything surplus and resells whatever they can and
donates part of the profits to the local hospital so we're quite well
organised here, they're currently closed for building renovation but
should be back in business once the floor is replaced

The wardrobe is the worst problem, it would fit nicely in the spare
bedroom except it won't go up the stairs, it won't fit in the car and
no-one wants wardrobes. Maybe I'll put it in the front yard with a
sign "free if you take it away" but it'll probably end up as firewood

wow........ the auction houses in town have wardrobes for sale most weekends

they are imported from the UK usually

surely there is an antique dealer in your town? or nearby?
.
