Reducing Protein and Lab Tests

I recently decided to go on a vey low carb diet like Atkins, to try to get
some weight off to help dal with my sciatica. My bgs are goos, and my A1c
is always well below 6, usually between 5.2-5.7. I ear moderate carbs,
60-100 and nevere "watched" y protein intake adn have been stabile in
weight fo rmany years.

Before stating I checked with my endo, who became concerned because my
Urea Nitrogen and my Bun/Createnine ratio were elevated. The urea
nitrogen was 53 with a normal range of 7-25 and the Bun/Creatinine was 61,
with a normal range of 6-22. As, I was told, these can be affected by
dehydration, I wa told to drink minimally, 2 qts of WATER or selter a day,
not to count my ffake OJ or my decaf coffee or andy other soda or soup,
etc. I did this for 2 weeks and then had a retest. There ws a drop in
both numbers but they are still bouve normal(I don't have the printout
yet)but the urea nitrogen was somewhere in teh 30s as I belive was the
bun/creatinine.

My endo has told me not to try the very low carb, higher pritein Atkin's
tye diet adn that i should watch my protein intake.

Now to my questions-
1 What really does elevation in these particular 2
numbers WITHOUT a high Creatinine mean? I have tried to find info on the
web, using som eurl's others have listed, but only found eneral informtion
aabout wht normal ranges mean in a given community.

2 What can I do with my diet to reduce the carbs without increasing the
protein, or even lowering it a bit. I know i ca nincrease my fat,
particularly the mufas, but I don't think that will really work, as I
need my bulk from vegetbles to be reasonabley content with my meals adn
not feel the constant starving martyr which doesn't work inthe long run.

Any information or suggestions would be welcome. I am eating more eggs
adn cheese, as they ae lower in protein than , sayy meat or fish. I use
these, particularly for lunch, but the weight is not budging adn acuall, I
regained the 4 lbs I lost in my tr of the very low carb induction diet for
a week before my tests came back.

Don't tell me to ask my endo a he is not very good on diet advice.

Wendy-somewhat puzzled.
