I've just been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Im a black male, 33

and a stress test. Is this normal after a diabetes diagnoses?
Welcome to the club you didn't really want to join.
A lot of extra tests to set baselines and to see what, if
any, damage has been done prior to diagnosis are quite
normal. In fact, if your doctor had not suggested those
additional tests we probably would have recommended that you
ask for them.
I'd suggest you also ask for referrals to a podiatrist and
an ophthalmologist for the same reason.
While you think about what to do next, here is some light
reading for you. First, the best advice I have seen anywhere
for new people with type 2

Second, some personal advice from me on what to do next:

I also recommend that you seek an appointment with a
dietician, but not until you have read those and done a
little experimenting as a result.
Wow! And what are your glucose readings like? I'm clueless about an echo
or a stress test has anything to do with diabetes. But what would I
know? As I am kind of new at this myself. <sigh> Anyway welcome. <grin>
