Since my dx I'm right into oily fish (especially mackerel - yum) and copious

G'day G'day Helen,
I'd love to know how you prepare mackerel. OK, I realise the term
mackerel refers to different fish in different parts of the world.
Alan I think it was provided some excellent colour photos of the
different fish.
My reason for asking is that to many of the fish people commonly eat
take a long time to reach maturity. Mackerel as I understand it
mature quickly and reproduce at an early age making it less likely
that stocks will be over fished. If I have made some wrong
assumptions here please let me know. These issues are important for
everyone but especially important for T2 diabetics.
I'm veering towards vegetarianism - as I love the thought of eating plant
protein as opposed the potential "colon-clinging animal flesh" we consume.
But that's my own pesonal opinion on the matter, guys!!
The "colon-clinging animal flesh" sounds like suspiciously a lump of
flesh. Could it have happened that at a barbeque in the midst of some
heated discussion a chunk of steak got woofed down and was never
digested?
The most successful diets appear to have a mixture of protein sources
say, one third legume eg soy or other beans, one third pork or
chicken, one third seafood. Red meat is important for women for the
iron content. Eating chicken provides iron but one has to eat a heck
of lot of it to get the same amount of iron. Most every strategy has
some upside and some downside and needs to be considered on an
individual basis.
Best wishes,
Hi Quentin
Did they show the Australian beef Producers beef versus
spinach ad over there a few years back?
I tried to find it on Youtube, but failed. The Ad starts
with a shot of a plate full of spinach with a voiceover
noting the benefits of spinach for iron. Then the camera
pans back to show that the plate, which at first appeared
quite normal is gigantic and the spinach pile is
mountainous. Beside it is a standard size plate with a
moderate sized steak and the voiceover comments that both
meals have the same iron content.
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.
