A1c is not the only barometer of diabetic health.

MANAGEMENT OF DIABETES MELLITUS" yet?

These are evidence-based guidelines developed for what is known to be the minimum needed to limit the chances of diabetic complications based on current research.

The AACE says you measure whether treatment is sufficient based on fasting bg, 2 hour postprandials *and* A1c.

Saying you don't need to account for postprandial numbers if the A1c is OK is like saying a kid doesn't need a measles vaccine if he's had the polio vaccine.
