Hi. I have read that Tylenol can cause hypoglycemic symptoms if one
takes too much. What about long term use? I have been on A
Acetaminophen product for 6 months and my blood sugar seems to
fluctuate more. I have heard this is because Tylenol puts a strain on
the liver.
Any Comments would be appreciated.
Jd.

Tylenol doesn't strain, the liver, it is extremely toxic to it, and even
after one week of use, total liver failure with transplant has occurred.

So whats the solution if one has pain? I also heard that Advil is not
good for blood sugar as well.Neither aspirin, Whats Left???

Anything that's strong enough to affect pain levels is strong enough to
have potential side effects. What those side effects are and whether you
suffer from them is highly individual. In addition, the actual action of
NSAIDs (the class that Advil and aspiring are in) is highly variable.
For instance, Advil doesn't do anything for my arthritis at all, but
naproxen (Aleve) does; others find the reverse. Whichever you take, you
should *always* follow the package instructions unless explicitly
contradicted by your doctor. For instance, my doctor knows that I
occasionally take prescription-level dosages of OTC Aleve. But, I
*always* take it with food (as instructed on the label), and if I find
my usage level creeping up, I'm to call in, even between regular
appointments.

So, long story short. You shouldn't be self-medicating here. If you've
been taking Tylenol for 6 months, you should be talking to your doctor
about root causes and possible alternatives.

And, if all the side effect you suffer from is blood sugar fluctuation,
that's something you can deal with through exercise or dietary
modification.
