It is more likely to be from your overall eating habits and perhaps
heredity. Were you overweight when you first developed diabetes. Do
you have close blood relatives that have it or who are gone now but
did have it? There are many factors which effect whether or not one
gets the disease. I hardly think anyone can blame just one food or
drink they had over a long period of time.

Regardless, take care of yourself now and test regularly every day.
