Hello everyone. I was diagnosed with type 2 a couple of days ago. My
Doctor told me that I would be contacted by a Diabetes Association for
advice and help. I am in pretty decent shape, 47 years old and have
already started to make a few dietary changes.
My question: I am going to purchase a glucose monitor. At my local
store, these are available:

Are they all the same? Is one better than another?
Thank you.
First thing you should do is contact your insurance agency and see what
meters they cover. If you have a prescription for the meter, it should be
covered by your insurance, but they may only cover certain brands.
There are differences between the meters and some people prefer different
things. Me? I prefer individually wrapped strips. Others prefer a bunch
of strips in a can that don't need to be unwrapped. Some meters are faster
than others. Or smaller than others. I also want a small one. I don't
really care how fast it is.
explained on other posts that we don't pay for our strips. Pharmacare covers
them. The rest I agree with except I hate those foil wrapped ones.
