Folks low on insulin become less hungry.
I do not believe that is true based on how extreme hunger was listed
as a
symptom of diabetes before insulin was discovered.

We know better now then we did back then.
Simply ask the type-1 diabetics here whether they are hungrier when
they go into DKA from lack of insulin.
The answer will be "no."
Well that did remind me of when I went into DKA, and you're right. I was
not hungry or thirsty then.
This would be the rule rather than the exception.
That is why I did not suspect that my diabetes
was so crazily out of control. When I first got diabetes, I was very
hungry
and very thirsty and had very frequent urination.
Being very hungry was good.
It was the world's great lie in your heart that hunger is bad that
drove you to irrationally overeat to the point of great harm in order
to kill the hunger.
The overeating resulted in extremely high levels of blood glucose
which does kill hunger.
The extremely high glucose when spilling into your urine causes an
osmotic diuresis leading to dehydration and thirst. This also leads
to a lowering of the extremely high levels of glucose so that you
again felt very hungry.
Nope, the drinking and urinating excessively did not lead to the lowering of
my blood glucose levels, only insulin did. Yet the hunger and thirst
persisted until I got insulin.
