The 3rd poster has the reason I think - reduced IR! Now if I could just
live up to the good times of control and just skim over the bad times so
they can't stick to my waist or my backside! How happy I would be!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm considering that reduced IR may indeed be
happening - I basically was wondering if that has indeed happened to
others.

Last summer it seemed like I was having a devil of a time trying to get my
FBG down below 100. I was exercising a LOT, eating even more strictly than
I am now, and taking the same meds. I recall one trip to Glacier Park last
summer, I was hiking 10 miles per day and still could not really get my
numbers down. This summer I am consistently running 80-95. For a variety
of reasons, I'm not getting as much exercise, and I seem to be loosening
the diet restrictions a little more, though I mostly retain it. BTW - I do
test at other times, and generally, control seems much better this year -
last night I had dinner out - more carbs than I'd like - even strawberry
cheesecake for dessert; about 1.5 hours after my BG was 110 and another
1.5 hours out it was 98 - 92 this AM.

My question is: have other folks seen progress like this? I'm wondering if
my insulin resistance has decreased significantly - it seems like it to
me. Do some of the folks who've been at this much longer have 'good years'
and 'bad years' or what?

Any explanations or anecdotal information will be gratefully accepted.

Hi Ray,

I've heard other people on ASD talk about experiences like yours.
They've worked their butts off and kind of held steady, then
improved. I suspect, you may indeed have lessened your IR, but I also
wonder if by giving your beta cells a rest if they are now able to do
their job more efficiently. Whatever you're doing, keep it up!
That's wonderful news!
