I don't know what to make of this. I'm your typical, garden varietyActually - it is normal, or not far from it. It's what I'd
diabetic-light. That is, normally, one foot on either side of 100mg/dl
with
fbgs always a little too high but too high to be exciting. I'm a "Child of
Jennifer," consistently 120 and 140 with the one-hour, two-hour after meal
thing when I'm prudent about diet.
Then, last night after my usual dinner (more or less) of a chicken leg
quarter (I ate a little of the skin - I like the burnt part - and put the
rest on the floor by the rat hole in the wall behind the piano.... they
like
the skin but I think the dog ate it), a little BBQ sauce, salad with
onions,
lettuce, tomato, yellow bell pepper, crumbled blue cheese, grapes, olives,
South Beach Ranch, and 8 strawberries dipped in fake yogurt washed down
with
2 fake (no alcohol) beers.
Just before bed, about an hour and a half after dinner, I tested expecting
the usual 120 or so and, Cripes...Shock! - 78...weird.
Anybody got any ideas about that? Is in menopause? Leprosy? It damn sure
ain't normal.
John
expect, or close to it, about that time after a dinner like
that - although I'm not sure about the "fake" things.
You had no symptoms of a low, so I would consider 78(4.3)
quite acceptable. In fact, I'd feel guilty using it as an
excuse to have a treat, like a scoop of ice cream or an
extra aquare of chocolate, because it isn't warranted. But
I'd still have the treat:-)
Maybe you've just improved more than you thought.
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.
there I'd be even happier. It just bothered me because was sudden, as
opposed to a gradually drop over a period of time. Anyway, I hope your take
on it holds true.
John
Just for info, I had an extra half-slice of bread with my
lunch-time soup; I shouldn't have done that - I had a high
(for me) of 7.9 (142) at 1:45. I had made this soup a little
more carby than usual at my master's request - more barley,
an extra spud across the ten serves.
Later, at 5pm I was 4.5 (81). No symptoms of a low, no
problems, able to continue the work I was doing with no
drama. Just normal.
I'm quite happy with the lower number although I'm
definitely not pleased with myself over the high one. So,
back to a smaller serve and a half-slice next time.
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.
