Have you ever spoken with them over the phone, Jacquie? Mine totally
lock up... It is like stage fright. They are very dear, wonderful
children, but when they get a chance to talk to Grandpa Will, they
totally lock up.... My daughter, Erin, says that they are so
transfixed, and in awe, that they just do not know what to say....
Rather reminds me of similar experiences with dealing with older
people like me from previous generations, when I was a child.
I guess that is what happens for a lot of kids.... Maybe it is what
happened to me, too, with regard to my encounters with the "old
people" in my family, some of whom spoke only Gaelic... it was a hard
chore, just to figure out how to communicate with some of them... That
was when I was only about four... Things picked up after that :-)
