This might be all true and I don't discount this for a second. But I also
believe there are people with immune systems that can virtually handle the
worst of the worst. And I think this counts for something. And I think if
someone wants to protect themselves, they should study how these people do
this. Personally, I believe early exposer when you are little is the key.
But what do I know? As for thousands of years, people just didn't know
anything about bacteria and viruses. And many did just fine.
I think genetics plays a large role in it. My daughter was born lacking and
enzyme that helps protect her against getting sick. So she gets anything
and everything that comes around. I think I probably have the same thing as
she does since I am constantly sick too and have been from birth. There is
a shot that is now given to all babies that helps protect them against
things. When my daughter was born, it was only given to babies who were in
daycare. I can't remember the name of it. It is supposed to be given prior
to 18 months of age. The Dr. decided to give it to her at age 4 in the
hopes it would help with the lacking enzyme. Seems to have done nothing.
Also, some of us are genetically predisposed to certain things like
diabetes. We are alive today because of modern medicine. Had we been born
say...100 years ago, we might have died early on into diabetes or maybe even
before we got it. It's true that people didn't know about bacteria and
viruses. But it's also true that many people died at an early age. My
grandpa was one such. Had antibiotics been around in his day he might not
have died in the hospital following the infection that occurred during his
surgery to remove an intestinal blockage.
People also got food poisoning all the time in the old days. That was very,
very common. They just accepted it and didn't know why they were getting
sick.
