Re: Breakfasts

When i start the day with bacon and eggs alone and take 5 mg glipizide and
500 metformin i have to eat one slice whole wheat bread or two lowcarb bread
so i dont fall to far too fast after my dawn dealie..lol.
I can drop from 120 to 80 in a hurry after just bacon and eggs but the small
bit of carb slows the decline and keeps me about 85-90 for a few hours.
The couple times i missed eating breakfast i had a liver dump the crash
later..wasnt fun.
It is is sorta amazing how much a balancing act it all is..lol.

Breakfast has been very bad to me. Some claim you need breakfast to keep
your BG under control. Although for me, I do much better if I just skip
breakfast all together. As I would be in the 110's or the 120's right
now if I just skipped breakfast.

Hi Bill

This morning my breakfast was really simple; a rasher of
(back) bacon and two over-easy eggs. I forgot to take my
metformin last night and stayed up very late; consequently
my dawn effect was nasty and FBG was 6.7(120), worst I've
had in quite a while; an hour after breakfast it's now
6.3(113) and heading in the right direction again.

This was my brekky:

In a little olive oil I sauteed a few chopped mushrooms, about a 1/4 of a
small very ripe, chopped tomato, a sprinkle of dried onion and about 1
dessert spoon of finely chopped bacon with no visible fat. After I removed
the sauteed part I pan "fried" 2 eggs in the smear of oil left in the pan,
not over easy - I put a lid over the eggs to cook the top. My usual hot
strong cup of tea with a bit of skim milk (waves to Quentin).

That was at 6 am - FBG was 5.5 (normally that high for me), 2 hours - 4.7.
Beta cells weren't stressed, no excess insulin running around doing
damage,
I am happy, my pancreas is happy, my aim for a complication-free future is
on target. Oh, and the sun is shining and my grandson is coming for the
day
while his mum works. Life is wonderful.

My next snack is due - today it will be protein powder in water (rather
than
yoghurt I usually have withmy "smoothie") along with my serve of brewer's
yeast and strawberries all blended together. No need for Splenda with the
protein powder. I finally got some Vanilla protein powder (as opposed to
the
chocolate I was bearing because my daughter's BF likes choc). The extra
protein is because I am doing some more muscle building at the moment.
