Tip of the Day
--------------------------------------------------------------------------?-----
Question:
For years I've heard that people with diabetes can't eat glucose. Is
this true?
Answer:
No, it's not true. Twenty years of research have shown that sugar is
just another carbohydrate. As far as your blood glucose is concerned,
a brownie and a baked potato have about the same effect. It is the
carbohydrate in foods that raises blood glucose. Carbohydrate, whether
in grains, beans, fruit, milk, or sweets, turns into glucose and is
used for fuel. So, carbohydrates like potatoes and bread raise blood
glucose the same way that table sugar (another carbohydrate) does.
Don't focus on the sugar; focus on the total amount of carbohydrate in
the meal.
Table sugar is considered a "bad guy" because it gives you calories
but no vitamins or minerals; these are empty calories. If you want a
natural sugar that is packaged with vitamins and minerals, you can
choose a piece of fresh fruit! But if you want to eat dessert, go
ahead and try just 2 or 3 bites. You can trade the carb in the bites
of brownie for a piece of bread or serving of rice in your meal plan.
I thought you said that what was taught here was not what the ADA
agreed with. he above quote from the ADA is what has been taught
here for a very long time now.
You thought wrong. But the fact that you think that things are
"taught" here, in a support group, is very telling.

In fact, Both diabetic groups are educational groups plus some good
and bad added features.
Sugar
diabetes is a long obsolete term. Most intelligent people explore all
sources of data but are intelligent to sort out the mass of junk
that comes by.
I keep glucose tabs in ,my pocket,in the car, by the bed. and
all over the place to reduce the 911 runs.
When looking for advice-- examine the source.
As Mack sez. We offer or experiences as we
perceive them. I would not expect to learn to fly a 747
reading a group about model airplanes.
Hint Commercial pilots are government licensed but only
a specialized group could safely fly a 747. There is a message in
that.
