As far as true harm, I think spammers who sucker someone into buying
useless products to use in place of proven medicines etc., fall under
the category of harmful. Religious threads just fall under the
category of annoying to me. :-)
Has anyone here ever really fallen for spammer products that are
posted here? They are usually very obvious. IMO the most anniying
spam here comes from a few of the regulars who seem to push certain
books a little too often under the guise of concern.

Which books?
There are only three books I've noticed that get regularly
mentioned here: Becker, Bernstein and Rubin. I have them all
- and paid to buy them. They weren't gifts or promotional
offerings.
While none of them are perfect, I know of no-one here who
receives any form of benefit, financial or otherwise, from
any of those authors. You regularly make this claim. If you
have any specific evidence to the contrary other than snide
innuendo please post it. Put up or shut up.
I have met Gretchen personally; she is a marvellous lady to
talk to, highly intelligent and witty and knows more about
type 2 diabetes than you will ever learn. I have a great
deal of respect for Bernstein; any man who has the courage
to change careers in his 40's from engineer to doctor so
that he can have the authority to back his experiments and
claims has my respect even if I don't follow all of his
advice. I can't comment on Rubin; I tend to think his title
is apt.
On the other hand, I read daily on other forums,
particularly the ADA forum, credulous questions from newbies
about quack "cures" and crap like Noni juice and similar
products. Do a quick search on "diabeticine" or "noni" or
"goji" here over the past year or two

Far too many ARE taken in by these slime, sufficient for the
FCA to take the trouble to produce their "Glucobate" site
