I got a severe sunburn this past weekend (on my head) that has
blistered,
oozed, and is starting to peel. Only 2 hours in the sun! I am fair
skinned and know how to handle the sun but this took me by surprise. I
have 2 questions for the group:

1. Does Metformin or Lisanopril reduce the ability of the skin to
handle
sun? I don't see it in datasheets...

2. My BG's we up around 30 points average for 2 days and I suspect it
was the burn that did it. Headaches were common and I am in some pain.
Anyone think this is possible? I have no other explanation for it.

Thanks,
Sax

It can cause sunburn.

Thanks to all for the information. My pill bottle didn't say anything
about
the sun and the web page I looked at didn't either. The truth is that I
had
a hot dog and a burger at the sunny picnic and I first attributed the rise
to that but wasn't sure because I did to a 3 mile walk during the day and
that usually keeps that food in check for me. Then, at night I walked
again
which, if I am say 130, would drop me to 80-85 on the meter. For me,
exercise really helps me control if I eat too many carbs at a meal and I
use
it like a secret weapon. After the second walk I had dropped 10 points,
no
where near my normal impact and a change I would say is really no change
at
all. The next day I was 110 at wake and I am usually 80-90. So, I was up
a
lot compared to my norms. 3 days later I am still waking to 100 although
my
pain is going a away slowly and I was able to achieve a pre dinner 85 with
almost no carbs in my diet. I think I am returning to normal and it will
take 2-4 more days for the burn to settle into an annoyance.

I am damn sure it has been this painful sunburn that is doing it and I was
pretty sure that one of the medications made me more sensitive. I am over
40 and I know know sun burn and how to avoid most of it. This really
surprised me. I read this group on and off since diagnosed 1.25 years ago
and I really appreciate the fact that I can draw on such a vast experience
base to help me to properly identify cause and effect in dealing with my
diabetes.

Thanks again to all you T1's and T2's!

I think your biggest problem was the 2 hours bit. 20 minutes would burn me
to a crisp.
