Ever since I was diagnosed I've been trying to find a lunch that was easyHi John
to
get ...and take to work. I used to have one of the Subway size bags of
chips, a 6 inch sub and a small can of Mandarin oranges with a large Dr.
Pepper. When I first got my meter I took it to work for several days and
tested at 1 and 2 hours. First day - 174 and 1 hr. Second day - 214 at one
hour. So, something had to be done.
I started buying South Beach TV dinners to take to work and switched to
Diet
Dr. Pepper. 1 hr - usually around 140, 2 hrs around 120.... pretty good
there - but tasteless and boring. So, again, something had to be done.
Here's what I found... Tasty/variety and filling... works for me so maybe
some of you working people who take lunch might find that it'll do for you
to.
1 large Dr. Pepper
1 half convenience store type bag of hot pork skins
1 Subway wrap with everything on it you can get
1 serving (cup) of Dannon Light& Fit Carb& Sugar Control yogurt (really
tasty)
My BG at 1 hr - 114, at 2 hrs - 101 (from beginning of meal)
(I'm not toooooo worried about fat an calories right now... 6' tall,
165lb... just trying to get control and still be satisfied with a meal)
Hope this helps somebody with a work lunch problem.
John
Marvellous to see you've found something that worked for
you. Presumably that's a diet Dr Pepper?
Different strokes...Please don't invite me to lunch if I
ever get over your way
I'm crushed:-(
(could you describe exactly what aThanks; sounds better than I thought. Close to what I call
"hot pork skins" looks and tastes like?:-)Yeah, diet Dr. Pepper....fried pork skins (in lieu of potato chips)... hot
pepper flavored so they aren't so dull...would rather have BBQ flavored but
haven't seen them around lately.
John
"crackling" - the best part of a roast piece of pork.
