Like on a window sill that gets afternoon sun. This was my mother's
standard storage space for soda that wouldn't fit in the fridge. She was
so pleased to be able to offer me a diet Coke one day (she didn't
usually buy diet soda, but had bought some for a guest). It's not just
that it tastes not-sweet when it's gone off. I didn't need to discover
just how much the sweetness is essential to the taste of a soda. It's
not like coffee or tea where the taste on its own is fine, but some
people prefer it with the sweetener. Unsweetened coke is just *vile*.
