I had an amazingly bad reaction to Quinine when my doctor prescribed it for leg tightening at night.

Gave me a fever of 102.8 and bad, bad chills. Stupid part is that the doctor said "well, it probably isn't the quinine, you maybe have a bug, call me in a couple of days".

It did that to a friend of mine, too.

You could try taking potassium and magnesium at night instead. A few hundred mgs of each. Increase the amounts slowly over the evening til cramps disappear. I get results within minutes of having some NuSalt (1/4 tsp) washed down with water.
