Aspirin = Salicyl-Acetate = a molecule which consists of Salicylic acid
and
Acetic acid
It can donate its Acetic acid to proteins
The proteins than become acetylated and unfunctional
This does not happen with salicylic acid symply because salicylic acid
does
not have an acetic acid molecule to give away.

Sorry Gys - as a non-chemist I'll stand corrected.

Hi Alan,
not at all.
Don't suppose I know someting better just because it's my job.
I'm just very interested in the chain : Fat => Inflamation => Diabetes , so
I'm reading a lot of it lately.

Also this :
the bacteria population in the intestine are very personal.
If you eat a lot of fiber than this population will alter.
You may end up with a population of bacteria that can digest the fiber for
you.So you get more calories from the same food => obesity. If you eat a lot
of carbs than you will get a population which will makes a modified sugar =>
obesity. The obesity will result in visceral fat. This fat will generate
inflamation signals. These will cause insulin resistance.Salicylic acid (not
aspirin) will break the inflamation chain at a specific point.

So time to give it a try I think

Hmmm, interesting thought: a subgroup of us, of all types, appear to
have an overreaction to wheat.

Wonder if it's not a metabolic thing but a result of differing gut
flora.

We are after all quite colonial, look at what can break after a course
of oral antibiotics kills off the current occupiers.
