Hi Chris.

Yes, it is pricey, and yes, insurance pays for all of it between the two
coverages (I have very little use of my legs due to neuropathy and
myasthenia gravis), and yes, it is a repeatable situation. The
sensitivity of the chair got my attention immediately when I got it last
April, and I try to stay very vigilant, but still, you know there are times
that will escape us. I turn it off as soon as I stop, but this was an *in
action* moment as I was getting set up here at my *station* by the sofa.

If you had a *governor* or whatever you may call it, on it, how would it
*dig in* and go where it was needing to go. For example, when I get to the
ramp at the front door....... I forget the depth of it now, in my mind,
probably about two inches........ when it meets the resistance of the ramp,
it powers up to overtake it, and keep on going to make it inside. I keep it
at the lowest speed when doing this so that once on the ramp, it won't get
away from me, and knock down the wall in the entranceway. LOL

Billie, most power wheel chairs are programmable.
I t requires a trained tech with the programmer. Have
no idea what it costs. Contact the vendor that
sold the chair too you.

Most custom changes are very expensive.

You need to consider using low speed settings
and raising it only when you are moving a longer
distance.

On one chair I am familiar with they set the controller
to almost stop when you were turning.

On a medicare chair, I think setting your chair
is part of the purchase.price. Warranty is
usually one year. They get a very good markup
and they should set it up right. I think it may be
a requirement.:by Medicare.

A problem is the exposure of the control
stick. A few people have relocated
and built a guard around it
