as with anything Nicky, the consumer/patient needs to LEARN about
their disease. this isn't the ADA's or DUK's job and anyone thinking
so is SADLY mistaken.

But Reisa - it's part of Diabetes UK's charter, I assume the ADA thinks it's
its job also!

I did the exact same when I was dx'd with DM. I started looking up
info on MY symptoms. First I went to the library and looked into medical
books and then started looking online.

Sure - except I did it the other way round, read everything I could online
and then bought a small library. I strongly suspect that you and I are
anomalies.

Your post a little further down about T2s, diet, meds and carbs is
interesting - except that I'd like to know more about their meds : ) I note
that the max amount of carbs for the T2s is 250g, but they're all obese. I
don't actually know any obese T2s - of the ones we know in common, I can
testify that Alan and Amy are not. The ones I know from work aren't either.
What these have in common, perhaps, is that they're relatively young, well
educated, computer savvy people - in other words, they don;t have to rely on
the advice the doc gives.
