Hi, I'm new to posting on this forum (generally a lurker). I have what
they call Periodic Leg Movement Disorder - PLMD. It's the night time
version of Restless Leg Syndrome. I was not aware of all the kicking I
was doing while sleeping but after a sleep test I guess I was waking up
every 2 minutes because of it. I take mirapex for this and have done
so for almost 2 years so I can get some restorative sleep... it works
for me! AND my bed stays nice and tidy rather than having it look like
a war zone in the morning.
I was diagnosed with glucose intolerance (pre diabetes) last year and
have been trying to lose weight but it just seems like it won;t come
off :0) I plan on asking my PCP for a referal to an endocronoligist
(PCOS & FD). I read the forum daily and am trying to make sense of how
I should be eating .... finally broke down and bought diabetes for
dummies so i can understand this disease basics. My fasting is always
around 100-110 and the 2 hour after a meal is 165 - 170... I can starve
and it still will not go down.
Good luck with your test,
Carol
I haven't heard of PLMD. My nighttime episodes are twitching nerves
inside my legs. And I move them to try to get them to relax; but it
only gets worse. I am wide awake cause it is too miserable to sleep.
So I get up and take aspirin. After awhile I can go to bed and sleep.
I don't do mine while asleep and I don't lose sleep. So mine is quite
different from yours.
You need to try to keep your bgs more even; which means don't starve
yourself. Some people eat as many as six or seven very small meals a
day. More like grazing. Eat as few carbs as you can, eat protein and
fiber and veggies, particularly leafy veggies. And exercise of some
sort. I walk. But soon will be seeing a therapist for exercises. Good
wishes.
