Re: Happiness is a new doctor!

I just had a complete going over by my NEW doctor. It's the first
REAL physical I've had in 5 yrs. I paid for them, but never got them.
I was delighted to find out that my low carb diet and exercise paid off,
my A1C has dropped from 11 on 2/14/2006 to 5.2, also dropped 24 lbs.

This new guy is great. I've been treated for asthma for over 10
years, after moving to the Ozarks 5 yrs ago, my breathing improved. I
stopped using the drugs (steroids) on my own. The new doc said he
doesn't know what I had, but it wasn't asthma, forget the meds. "If it
comes back, we'll figure it out and deal with it". He is switching me
from Amaryl to Glucophage, said it is a better choice for me and it will
help me lose weight (Confirmed what I had read here). I had a stress
test and an echo cardiogram yesterday. He was angry that a guy with 3
heart attacks had not even had a stress test in 5 yrs. Still waiting
for test results, then a few more hoops to jump thru before we can get
back to normal. I'm not looking forward to the colonoscopy, but he
found out I never had one and said at my age it would be prudent.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased. This guy was written up in our local
paper Tuesday... VERY impressive. I was lucky to have been doctor
shopping at the right time and in the right place. An RN friend told
me about him. She knew him from a hospital where he was the chief
resident. He spent more time with me in one visit than the old doctor
spent with me in 5 yrs. I feel a hellova lot better just knowing I
finally have a doctor that knows his sh*t.
Cheers, Wizzzer

Adding my congrats to your amazing progress.

Best,
Kurt
