What I want to know is why am I constantly seeing security
alerts
for Linux kernels and various Linux applications? It would seem
that
Linux is so well written that security alerts should not be
necessary.
When such alert are issued many Linux users do not update their
systems due to the complexity of doing so. Linux has many of the
same types of security issues as Windows. What Linux does not
have
is the large number of virus writers attempting to infect user
systems.
Could that be because the Linux user base is too small to bother
with? Beside the average Linux user is much more technically
astute
than the Windows user, they have to be to get and keep their
systems functional. Many Windows users, not all, are what is
referred
to as appliance operators. Linux users by necessity are more
technically
inclined or know someone who is technically inclined to support
their
system
