Sorry to hear of your trouble. But, couldn't this 98 be a hypo? I've
that the rate of drop is more important than the mere level. So, it'sto
entirely possible to have a hypo without having a low number, as you seem
be reporting.
Of course given the innaccuracies of our meters, it could technically have
been a hypo. It certainly felt like one. I also sometimes have hypo
unawareness. The other possibility is that I did in fact have a hypo, but
no symptoms at the time and my liver dumped glucose so that by the time I
was aware of the symptoms that already happened.
I don't think you were here during the time period where I had near constant
hypos. This went on probably for a year, even when I was off of my diabetes
meds. I had to make sure to eat enough carbs at my meals and to keep candy
with me at all times. If I allowed so much as a 10 minute delay to my meal
time, I might faint. It was horrible! People hated coming to my house or
going out to eat with me because of this. I couldn't even go to the grocery
store without eating a meal right before because I'd go hypo before I made
it through the store. Turns out the problem there was a really
hyper-thyroid caused by the Endo. I was seeing at the time. He figured
since I was overweight, I needed more thyroid meds. If only it worked that
way, but it doesn't. What he did by overmedicating me was a pounding
heartbeat that he treated by putting me on more BP meds to the point where I
was not functional. At times my BP would be like 40/20. It also sped up my
metabolism to the point that anything I ate rushed right through me. I
could never be far from a bathroom.
I was a mess! An absolute mess! And yet he said I should be happy because
I was close to death when I first came in to him and now I wasn't. Yet I
felt like I was! Took several more years and moves to 2 different states to
finally hook up with a Dr. who knew what he was doing.

I get that low sometimes...but since the drop is so slow, it doesn't
me.
It might not bother you, but the brain does not function properly at those
numbers.
I hope you get this figured out.
I hope so too. I didn't have an overly carby dinner tonight. Had a cup of
chili and a taco salad at a restaurant. I never know with this restaurant.
Sometimes I get a huge salad on a mound of chips. Tonight there were 6
chips, some lettuce and carrots, 2 olives about 1/4 cup meat and some salsa.
Not a lot of beans in the chili either. So I will for sure be checking my
BG earlier and eating if need be. I've also bought two more bags of candy.
Have some in my purse and more tucked away near the computer.
