Thanks so much!!

There's a test to determine if one is T1. It involves looking for the
antibodies which are a surefire marker.

One such test is the c-peptide test, which gives a measure of how much
insulin is being produced by your pancreas, on the theory that the amino
acid c-peptide is released in the blood in the same approximate amounts as
insulin as it is being produced. A low (or even undetectable) level of
C-peptide with a high blood glucose level usually indicates type 1 diabetes.

Another test that can be performed to determine if autoimmune processes may
be at work destroying beta cells is the GAD antibody test, which detects
and measures the presence of anti-bodies to beta cells that may have
developed in a person suspected of having a tendency toward t1 diabetes.

Here are some links to more info about GAD antibody tests:

I hope this helps.... Based upon my own experience, I would say the
c-peptide test is very commonly run in newly diagnosed patients to help
determine what type of diabetes you are dealing with. The GAD test is
regarded as the clincher.

Will, T2
