Get rid of the drug laws and half the federal prison population could
be let out. (Now I've probably opened up another can of worms. ;-)

Sounds as if you and I agree on this one.

I think recreational drugs should be legalized and controlled much as
alcohol is now. The penalties for providing any of them to minors
should be so strong that a person would have to be pretty stupid to do
so. Tax them just as alcohol is and see that a very significant part
of those taxes go toward treatment and prevention of addiction. Start
teaching kids honestly about drugs from the first year of school right
on up through high school as part of their science and health
instructions, including honest sex education.
