Re: Why is Kaiser Permanente so damn stupid?

Mine has a five day window on it except for controlled drugs. I have no problem getting mine a
few days early, nor getting travel drugs. My pharmacist (we use a locally owned druggist) just
calls our insurance company, and explains the situation to them. 'Course, I do not do any mail
order drugs, so that might be a bit different.

Have a marvelous day!

: : Most insurance companies are that way. If they let you have medication
: whenever you want it, you could use too much of it, or even be selling it to
: make a profit. Mine will allow you to get early refills once a year with
: proof that you are making a cross country move and will need the meds before
: you get to the next duty station. Husband is in the military. However, to
: get this you and the pharmacists have to jump through all sorts of hoops.
: What they prefer you do to is get them refilled and pay out of pocket
: somewhere during the move. This means making a stop at a pharmacy somewhere
: and coughing up (in my case) about $2,000 out of pocket (for my daughter and
: myself), then waiting about three months to get re-imbrued after your spouse
: checks in to the new duty station.
:
: Because of the way my insurance works there are different regions throughout
: the country. This creates a problem during moves since we are not attached
: to any particular region. If we go to the hospital or Dr. or need meds, we
: have to claim the region we checked out of. Fine if we are still somewhere
: in that region. But if not, forget about it! Same goes for vacations.
