bringing those numbers down so quickly? That almost never happens. This morning I had eggs mixed with crumbled hamburger and shredded
cheddar cheese, which sent my BG from 117 to 139.
As I read somewhere, alcohol "paralyzes the liver." Since with type 2 diabetes your liver often pours out glucose around the time you eat because it isn't getting the insulin signal it expects that tells it NOT to, this can be helpful. Unless you are on insulin and need to be able to rely on the liver to correct a slight overdose. Then you can be in trouble as the liver can't top up the blood sugar and you can have dangerous lows.
OTOH, while a glass a day of something appears very helpful, drinking full time is not a good diabetes control strategy. Alcoholics live short nasty lives once they hit their 40s or 50s. The liver doesn't take well to too much paralysis.
RE your breakfast, the body can be MUCH more insulin resistant in the morning than later on, which makes breakfast the toughest meal on the system.
