Regarding the sugar substitute, does sucralose have any affect on blood
glucose? Some sugar free foods (cough drops in particular) use it as the
sweetner. I have read that sucralose is made from modifying sugar.
I suspect that it has no affect but I thought I'd ask.
I generally use Sweet and Low as sparingly as possible as a substitute

aspartane also. and trying to get away from these as a general policy.

I can't answer your question about sucralose, but I'm curious as to why
you're trying to get away from aspartame and saccarin. I use them
frequently in my coffee and unsweetened tea when I order it at
restaurants.
MDS (Mister Doctor Sir)
I have recently reduced my salt intake considerably (low salt foods, no
added salt) and now some foods with only a little salt taste tend to taste
fairly salty. So I figure that is a good thing.
Years ago, I used to have my coffee without any sweetner at all. I figure
that I could reduce my sweet tooth and the taste for sweetness by lowering
sweetner use.....but this is no more than just a preference. However this
may not have the similar success compared to the lowered taste for salt that
I have recently experienced.
Back to sweetners, I am not convinced that any of the sugar substitutes are
good for the body, but I drink soda with aspartame a lot in the summer and I
do and always have used saccharin in coffee as my sweetner of choice. And
for tea, I use Splenda, sucralose. Sweet and Low does not work too well in
tea.

Depending on what the Splenda is used in, it can add a nice sweet
taste. However, there are some things, such as the Nestea Iced Tea,
which taste yucky because of the Splenda. I tend to stay away from diet
carbonated drinks because I don't like their taste. I still remember
what a regular soda tastes like, and it's far better than a diet one.
However, the diet teas, lemonades, and fruit punches taste just like
their sugar counterparts. Were it not for that, I doubt I could survive
on my diet.
