If I set policy for a medical office, I'd have the staff phone the patients' answering machine when good tests come through and the diagnosis visit is a few days away. The message would be, "Hey. Good News. You don't have XYZ! You've only got ABC! We can handle that at the Surgicenter for 500 bucks and you're out the same day! Yahoo!

But they never do that.

OTOH, I have learned in the past that if something really dreadful shows up they call you pretty fast.
