More Diabetes Mythology from the Senior Bowling League

Bit of a rant:

Bowled today in the senior league. One fellow has DM. Way over-weight with a big tummy that my folks used to call a "corporation." He had no clue as to what an A1C test was. He only saw his dotor once a year (GP). He tested twice a day, before meals, and his "average" sugars were 146. His doctor said: "that's not a problem, it only becomes a problem when they are over 150".

He also told me that when his BGs tested high, he took an extra pill.

I told them that when they got back home (they are Winter Texans) they should ask their doctor to send them for Diabetes education. His Mrs. thought this would be a good idea.

DM is a serious disease. Why can't the medical community treat it seriously?

Rant off.
