You should probably do some reading in alt.support.arthritis. There are
lots of flavors of inflammatory arthritis, some of which have potential
eye involvement. In particular, look for "sero-negative rheumatoid
arthritis" or "sero-negative inflammatory arthritis". Some non-trivial
number of people have lots and lots of symptoms of inflammatory
arthritis without testing positive for any of the blood markers like
rheumatoid factor or ESR.

I had two long episodes of crippling arthritis, 7 years apart when I was
in my 20s. Turned out to have been infectious, caused by tick borne
diseases. At one point, I was in the hospital and had to use a wheel
chair and a walker for weeks, then took 16 aspirin a day for years in
order to manage it.

Since initiation of antibiotic treatment several years ago, I have no
arthritis symptoms anywhere. I haven't needed meds for it (it waned on
its own years before my diagnosis) for many years.

Many folks with TBDs have elevated inflammatory markers and even ANA.

Hello Susan and Alice,

The ANA (Antinuclear anitbody panel) is one of the many tests that
have been ordered, and as well as an anti-DNA workup....

I'll be lucky to have any blood left!
