Weirdly, perhaps, the researchers conclude T1s need to reduce fats
which they can utilised and have more carbs which they can't, all
apparently on the assumption that fat causes arteriosclerosis.

It is also worth noting that the _reporter_ said a lot more than the
researchers did, and tried to make us think the researchers were
saying it.

The reporter's title "....unhealthy switch to high-fat diet"
in my opinion was an intentionally dishonest attempt to create
a mind-set ready to hear "low-fat diet" whether it was there
or not.

I think it's telling that the reporter although seemingly trying
hard to promote a low-fat diet, was unable to come up with a quote
of any of the researchers actually saying that.

I thanked Sarah for starting the post. I'd like to repeat my thanks.
There is an issue here. We have a number of choices of how we might
respond to it. Intense curiosity could be one of them.

Maybe the reporter simply didn't understand the scientists.

I think it's usually unwise to seek more complicated explanations for
behaviour which can easily be explained by stupidity :-) Even clever
and well-educated people have their stupid moments.
