Re: speaking of expensive insulin

I was comparing online vet supply sites -- since this crazy state doesn't seem to have one, or one I can find and I simply refuse to take my animals to the vet when it's $120 to walk through the door! Then each shot is individual.. gimme a freakin break! I've given our dogs and cats their vaccines since they were born - before I was even diabetic.

Anyhoo.. Each of them sold "Dog & Cat insulin" which they had both the vestilin and novolin N -- man my jaw dropped, they wanted $49.95 for a U100 for that -- same stuff you can get at wallyworld for like $20! Then they were selling syringes at 100 for $16.99 which were made by Kimbal (no clue) -- LOL they also had Glipizide for the animals as well, don't remember how much that was..

But what really cracked me up was they had the same meds Danni is on for her thyroid for $.19 a pill... which isn't bad, considering I pay $22 a month for 30 of them. LOL I'm wondering if they're
really exactly the same? They had the exact same name on them.

Mind you all this with no prescription needed.. They had a few other choice "meds" that are
now banned OTC here in the states as well.

When my Williecat was diagnosed with diabetes, my vet offered to sell me U40 PZI insulin for $66 CDN a bottle, but I had to buy the U40 syringes as well, because you couldn't use U100 syringes to inject U40 insulin. The U40 syringes he sold for $32 PER BAG.

Fortunately he had already admitted he'd never treated a cat with diabetes, so I took my business to a veterinary internist across the river who told me the human UL I had put him would be just fine...

The price of human meds is regulated here in Canada, but vet meds aren't. They're ripping off their patient's owners BIG TIME!
