Actually, blood might be blood. But you need blood from certain places to
check your BG. I too had trouble getting blood from my fingers until I
tried using the tourniquet method. I use a coated elastic ponytail holder.
I wrap it around my finger where that little crease is on the other side of
the knuckle. I then use the lancet on the side of my finger, pulling the
ponytail holder tighter. If this isn't enough to get a large enough drop of
blood, I'll press the pad of my finger against a hard object. Usually I use
the back side of my lancing device. Works well for me. I can almost always
get a large enough drop of blood by using this method.
If you decide to try it, be sure to remove the tourniquet when you're done.
And if you can't find a ponytail holder, you can use a rubber band. The
rubber band won't last as long though.
