Diana, I agree with all the other people who say that the doctor is
not doing what he should for you. Yes, it would be terrific if you
could go into a weight loss program with medical assistance; insurance
is so unhelpful these days. Since you lost 50 pounds this year you
have been helping yourself, and any doctor worth his salt would
congratulate you on that rather than whining about a
medically-supervised weight loss you can't have. It seems to me that
your doctor is one of those who don't seem to think any patient knows
much about their body or how to help themselves. There's a lot of
medical arrogance around. Weight loss is tricky; I've stalled in mine
after a fast 40-pound loss. I am planning to starting the new year by
recording calories along with my bg. Planning the food yourself,
keeping track of what you eat, all that will do you more long-term good
in weight management than a hospital-supervised program that will set
up feelings of denial, forbidden foods, and cravings that for me would
result in rebellion and defiance of medical people.
Take care of yourself. You know how to do it. Every day is a new day.

Life is change. How it differs from the rocks. I have seen their ways
too often for my liking.
New world's a game; my life is to survive, and be alive.
