With the caveat that I said the very same thng about the endo I fired, I think I'll be keeping this one. It was a positive visit, and the gal certainly seems to think her job is to give me guidance and not to dictate my treatment. Yay for doctors who work WITH the patient!!
* She dumped my meter logs and noted the slow creeping BG numbers,
including the rise in my FBG. After asking about my excercise habits
and reviewing my food diary she agreed that the creep is of concern.
We discussed Byetta and TZDs and decided that while they would
probably be of help there's no point in pushing my pancreas any harder
than my C-peptide says it is already working.
* Thinks bolus insulin might be of some help for PPBG problems but wants to see what my new HbA1c is before starting me on any. Thinks basal insulin might be overkill but didn't rule it out - she's concerned about exacerbating those midnight lows... She understands the "control freak" nature of the beast and wants to work with me, but wants to do it cautiously.
[Ed: I've never considered myself a control freak, but learning to manage my BG has turned me into one in jig time.]
* Pulled the different thyroid test results into a separate spread*** and wondered aloud why the fired endo never noticed the early markers for Graves' Disease (happy joy). I'm still resistant to the idea of beta blockers for SYMPTOM treatment but open to treatments that will resolve the PROBLEM, Graves' or not.
* Was shocked that the fired endo told me it is "illegal for a T2 to be prescribed more than 3 test strips per day". Said if I feel like I need to test 12x daily she won't stand in my way :) Asked me how many strips per month I wanted and wrote the Rx.
* Ordered the repeat HbA1c as mentioned above plus a lipid panel. Shook her head when she realized the other endo had NOT ordered a cholesterol check to go with the 8-week liver function check subsequent to me starting on statins.
* Suggested I see an allergist *achoo*

If it wasn't such a long commute, I'd be asking for her name ;)
