To get the most benefit out of the "test,test,test" advice,
test sufficiently to know when your peak spike generally
occurs. That will vary a little depending on the meal, but
in my case it is about 60 minutes after my last mouthful.
Try, for three evening dinners in a row, tests at 30, 60 and
90 minutes after eating. If you haven't returned to a
reasonable number at 90, then 120 as well. Graph the results
and you should get some idea of your peak. After you know
that, test only at the peak timing. I only bother with a
second test an hour later if the peak was high.
And eating slowly, savouring your meal, is an excellent
technique to employ for both weight-loss dieting and
assisting with BGs control.
