Re: 1 microliter and OneTouch Ultra....

Funny you should ask. Being a former toolmaker and a generally numerate type of person (read bean counter), I measured the illustrated drop and found it to fairly accurately represent 1.0 µL. This means a diameter of 0.049". And I do seem to be able to use that size spherical drop to properly fill the strip.

One error I found was in the illustration of what they claim is a 4 µL drop needed for other meters. The drop is twice the diameter of the 1.0 µL drop; however, the volume of a sphere varies as the cube of its diameter, so the other drop should be only 0.078" diameter (0.049"^1/3) ..Note that a drop twice the diameter of the 1.0 µL drop would be 8.0 µL volume.

I was getting error messages once in a while also, and upon re-reading the instructions, I now contact the top of the strip with my little ball of blood, instead of the very end, as I was wont to do.

Has anyone actually ever filled the channel on a OneTouch Ultra strip with the advertised 1 microliter (1.0 µL) volume of blood and not gotten an error message? I find that I usually need a drop at least twice their illustrated volume.
