I prefer to do 4 meals of 45 carbs each.

sometimes the meds and your body need time to work.
that first 2200 calorie diet you were given was only a starting point.
we are all individuals its not really expected to get it right on the first
shot.
I would have went back after talked about it with my doctor
i would have went back to the dietitian after 2 weeks with details of my
diet and blood sugar levels.
I would have also mentioned that i was willing to eat 5 times a day in stead
of the 3 times a day some do.
also dont forget the diet goes hand in hand with exercise.
i was very active at age 34 also recieved a 100% on the firemens physical at
age 39.
dont mind me.. im just wishing i was 34 again :(

for me the biggest part of it was becomming more active.
personally i would have went back to the dietitian.

sorry it didnt do you much good.
type 1's usually live many of their first years with blood sugar levels
dangerously high
and have to live with diabetes much longer than you or myself. no i am not
saying
don't worry about it. its just that sometimes the fastest or easiest way is
the best.
the first couple of weeks all I did was test my fasting blood sugar. I
guess thank god I did.
it probably gave my body a chance to adjust and didnt get tricked into
thinking it wasnt working.
also for my morning numbers my night time snack is key. i eat RIGHT before
i go to sleep.
and wake up 8 hours later so that is only a 8 hour fast. i prefer very slow
acting carbs for my night time snack.
something like 1 whole grain rye cracker with a smear of no sugar added
jelly.
1 cup 1% milk or skim milk and 6 almonds. i know it doesnt sound tastey
:(.
sometimes i just crumble the rye cracker and eat it like cereal with milk.
good luck
